Chailey Heritage Foundation has an exciting new opportunity for Farm Education Coordinator to join a unique place to work.

 

       LOCATION: Onsite, BN8 4EF*

       SALARY: £12ph = £12,480*

       HOURS: 20 Hours per week*

What you’ll be doing:

 

As the Farm Education Coordinator you will collaborate with the Farm Manager and team to plan and evaluate nature-based activities for children and young adults with complex disabilities.

 

The role includes planning and leading the daily delivery of farm and nature-based activities and:

  • Lead, set up and assist in running activities and events for external schools, child and youth organisations during the term time and school holidays.
  • Assist with animal care, horticulture and grounds maintenance as required
  • Liaise with nursing staff about the individual health needs of pupils.
  • Ensure all daily checks are carried out and report any issues/faults to the Farm Manager.
  • Ensure that interactions between the young people and animals are appropriately supervised and safe.
  • Keep records up to date and any additional ad hoc administration is completed

 

What you bring to the table:

 

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • GCSE Grade D or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English.
  • Experience of working with and delivering activities to children, young people and/or adults in groups or on a one-to-one basis
  • Effective communicator in both written, verbal and face to face settings, and with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with individuals with special and complex needs
  • Experience of delivering outdoor learning activities
  • Knowledge or understanding of Health & Safety requirements/Risk Assessments
  • Good working knowledge of, and commitment to, the principles of safeguarding and child protection
  • Time management and ability to prioritise tasks

Other useful skills and experience:

  • Experience of undertaking practical activities such as horticulture and animal care.
  • Training in a previous employment setting for young people/adults with complex / learning
