Join our Education team as a Lunchtime Assistant and play a vital role in supporting children with complex physical disabilities and health needs. Your contribution will help make their mealtime and activities both safe and enriching. It’s a role that requires commitment, but it brings immense joy and fulfilment.
SALARY: £12.60ph / £ 7,796 pro rata
HOURS: 13.75 hours per week (11.30am - 2.15pm), Monday to Friday, term time only
LOCATION: Onsite (BN8 4EF)
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll work closely with teaching, supervisory staff, and therapists to provide welfare, social care, and educational support for pupils with special educational needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting pupils with personal care, hygiene, and lunchtime routines.
- Supervising mealtimes and ensuring dietary and sensory needs are met.
- Encouraging pupils to engage with peers and participate in play activities.
- Preparing and tidying the lunchtime area for afternoon activities.
- Supporting pupils with mobility needs, adhering to manual handling guidelines.
- Being an advocate for pupils, respecting their views and promoting their independence.

What We're Looking For:
Skills and Experience:
- To have good relationship building with both colleagues and young people/ adult
- Be a team player.
- Have a basic understanding of technology, including using a computer with Microsoft packages, printers/photocopiers and any other technology required to do the role.
- Have a basic understanding of Health and Safety
Other useful skills and experience:
- Previous experience working with SEN Children and Adults (desirable)
- Have experience working in a school or social setting or with children.
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of how children learn through play.
