LEAD VOLUNTEER GARDENER

Chailey Heritage Foundation is looking for a volunteer who loves gardening and wants to help nurture our community spaces.
LOCATION: North Chailey, BN8 4EF*
HOURS: 1 morning a week (dependent on time of year)*
DURATION: ongoing but ideally at least 6 months*
About the role:
We’re looking for a Lead Volunteer Gardener to oversee and inspire our team of green-fingered volunteers. You’ll help shape, maintain, and nurture our gardens. Our gardens provide a beautiful sensory environment for the young people and their families to enjoy.
This is a hands-on role where your creativity and leadership skills can truly flourish. Whether it’s planting, pruning, or planning seasonal displays, you’ll make a real difference. Prior gardening experience and a love for the outdoors are essential.

What you will do:
- Lead the work of the volunteer gardening team
- Assign tasks and ensure volunteer gardeners are working safely
- Liaise with departments
- Advise on planting schemes
- Help make the gardens a fully immersive and sensory experience
