ENGINEERING ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER

 

Chailey Heritage Foundation is offering an exciting opportunity for volunteers to join our Engineering Team and make a tangible impact on the lives of children and young people with complex needs.

 

  • LOCATION: North Chailey, BN8 4EF
  • HOURS: 2-3 days per week with flexibility  
  • DURATION: Initial 1 year  

 

About the role:

As an Engineering Assistant Volunteer, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping our facilities and devices functional, safe, and optimized for the children and young people we support. This is a unique chance to apply your skills in a meaningful way while contributing to the well-being of others.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment. 
  • Contribute to the planning, execution, and monitoring of engineering projects. 
  • Help ensure that all activities comply with health and safety regulations. 
  • Assist in managing the inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies. 
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work. 

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • A basic understanding of engineering principles and practices. 
  • Proficiency with common tools and equipment. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Previous experience is beneficial but not essential.
